All About Our Basket Program

Our basket program is a great way to experience the taste of local Ontario produce throughout several seasons. With the program beginning in May and ending in October, you will get to enjoy bounties of spring, summer and fall produce. All our produce is grown using both organic and regenerative practices, meaning your food is not only good for you but good for the Earth as well. We also work with other like-minded farms to round out our baskets, so your subscription not only supports us but the local agricultural community too.

Program Overview

Each week you will receive a basket
consisting of seasonal fruits and vegetables that have been picked that same week. We strive to fill the basket with what is in season, so that you can truly
experience the variety of produce that Ontario has to offer. Each basket will be
made up of a nice mixture of produce including items like salad mixes, root
vegetables, fresh fruits, herbs and alliums. Along with your basket, each week you
will also receive an email newsletter detailing what is in your box and ways it
can be used.

Expected Produce

Based on the time of year, here are some fruits and vegetables you can expect to find in your basket: Year-Round (salad mixes, radishes, turnips, mushrooms, microgreens, green onions, carrots, beets, potatoes and more), Spring (asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, kale, swiss chard, green garlic and more), Summer (blueberries, melons, peaches and other stone fruits, celery, beans, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, peas, garlic scapes, heirloom and cherry tomatoes, zucchini and more), Fall (apples, pears, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, corn, garlic, pumpkins, squash, sweet potatoes and more).

Basket Sizes

We offer three different sizes of produce baskets: Small, Medium and Large. While all three baskets contain the same roster of produce, each gets a different size or number of an item (Ex. A small basket gets 140g of lettuce mix, a medium gets 180g, and a large gets 200g). A small basket would be good for someone who wants a taste of fresh, local produce in small portions. A medium basket would work well for people who enjoy a hearty portion of fruits and vegetables and can feed a couple people depending on appetite. A large basket is for people with a produce-heavy diet and can feed up to two adults plus some children.

Delivery and Pickup Information

For subscribers in Toronto, pickup is now the only option available to you. For Georgina and Newmarket subscribers, you can choose to have your basket delivered to your home or avoid the delivery fee by having it delivered to a community location near you.

Depending on your location, here is when to expect your basket. Newmarket boxes are delivered Wednesdays, Toronto boxes on Thursdays, and Georgina boxes on Fridays. For
subscribers picking up their basket at one of our community locations, we will do our best to deliver the box as early as possible. Once the program is underway,
we will be able to let you know approximately when to pick up your basket based on the delivery schedule. If you will be picking up from the farm, we ask that you please come by during our farmstand hours, which are Fridays from 12pm-6pm and Saturdays from 9am-1pm.

Bin Deposit

When you sign up for the program, you will be charged a deposit of $30. This charge is
for two Rubbermaid bins, which your produce is delivered in each week. When you receive your weekly basket, please leave the other bin out, as our drivers will collect them. This cycle allows us to wash and then reuse your bin.

If you Cannot Receive Your Basket

It is your responsibility to let us know if you will be away for any of the weeks during
the program. In the case that you are away or cannot receive your basket, you can either have a friend or family member pick it up, or you can donate it to our local food pantry. Please let us know either when you sign up for the program (in the comments section) or the Sunday before the start of the week. Please reach out to customerservice@clearwaterfarm.ca if needed, we are more than happy to help.

Weekly Newsletter

Make sure to check your inbox each week as we will be sending out an e-newsletter. This will include a list of your basket contents, storage tips and recipes associated with the produce, as well as updates on what’s happening at the farm.
